Last week I wrote this piece for Comic Book Resources about the new Teen Titans #1 cover. The point of the piece was hey, there’s a broad demographic DC *could* be hitting with this book but the cover is certainly not made for that potential demographic. Instead, it’s more of the same-old,…

As the comic book industry grows and is exposed to more and more people who are not typical superhero readers, I hope this behavior will be regarded for what it is: unprofessional nonsense, not to be tolerated by the industry. I hope publishers will come to expect a standard of behavior from the artists and writers they hire, and will not tolerate harassment and dismissal of women in the industry.

Comic book professionals, you are PROFESSIONALS. It’s time to start acting like it.

Ladies and gentlemen, readers of Boumeries, today is the launch of my very own Patreon page! As many of you may know, I am now a stay-at-home mom working on comics during my daughter’s nap times, and my income has been pretty null in the last year or so. If you like what I do, please consider sparing a few bucks every month to support my work and help pay the bills — your help might even allow me to go to American cons! That would be so awesome.

So please watch the video and head to my Patreon page if you’re interested! If you can’t contribute, please reblog so that as many people as possible see this. I need all the help I can get.

Thank you so much! You guys are rad.

Are you a Death Eater? A foot soldier in the Empire’s drone army? Or perhaps a psychopath serial killer? Of course not! So this means you have feelings and a generous heart! How can you not go “AAAAWWW” at this video? Of course you can’t. So help out my dearest friend Boum, who has a lot on her plate, so she can keep printing comics all while being able to afford bunny-themed outfits for Margot.

Can’t blame a donkey for trying! #faunafriday #donkey

I know there's a French book of Nuclear Winter in the works, but is there any chance of an English print edition? I really want to have this on my bookshelf to enjoy!

Not with my current editor. Anything else would have to be along the lines of self-publishing or something like that. But think about it, having the french version on your bookshelf, you could impress all your friends!

U GOT ME FOR A FEW SECONDS

I’m an evil mastermind :P

Whhyyyy did you have to redesign flavie like that? I know, to make it more eye pleasing to "core" readers but WHY
Anonymous

Calm down, just watch this for a few minutes.

[OBVIOUS EDIT] APRIL FOOLS YOU GUYS! I wouldn’t change Flavie’s design for ANYTHING!
So I had a long talk with my editor and they were concerned about the impact on sales that my comic would have. I didn’t know I was going to get published when I started Nuclear Winter, so I didn’t really factor in  that my heroine probably wouldn’t appeal to “core” readers, like teenage boys and older men. Now my lineart is seperate from my colours and we decided that I’d try to redesign Flavie just a little bit, just to giver her an extra “edge”. I already have to do tons of modifications before the realease date so I thougt I might as well tweak the lineart while I was at it. This is a sketch I showed to my editor and they seem to like it. I’m gonna work from there and see what happens! So far, I really like the redisign, she’s a lot more eye-pleasing, don’t you think?
